Psalm 45:8 - "All your robes are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia..."
The inspiration of His EssenceTM comes from the Holy Bible. Psalm 45:8 tells us when Jesus returns, the scent of his garments will be of myrrh, aloe and cassia. We carefully combine these ingredients and the result is a fragrance which serves as a reminder of His Presence.
A number of questions about the theology of Psalm 45 have been asked. Some remark that Psalms is in the Old Testament but Jesus is in the New. And others think it refers only to King Solomon. So I would like to take this opportunity to explain my understanding of this Psalm.
First of all, I am not a theologian, but have studied the Bible for many years. And when we had the idea of pursuing a business, the first thing we did was talk about it to our former pastor, who is a Biblical scholar. He agreed that Psalm 45 is a Messianic psalm referring to the marriage of Christ and His bride, the church. The Bible has much imagery, particularly in the Psalms. But there is no doubt that this psalm refers to Jesus when He returns to reign eternally.
If you go to The Knowing Jesus Study Bible NIV and look up Psalm 45, it also claims that this psalm is a picture of Jesus. At the top of the page for the study notes on this particular psalm, it says “Jesus’ Holy Bride”. It says “After God’s people had been taken into captivity and the nation dissolved as a separate entity, the people realized that this song also referred to God’s promised Messiah, the final and ultimate King.” It also notes “This psalm ultimately points to Jesus, God’s promised One – to Jesus, the ultimate King who will reign for all eternity (Hebrews: 8-9).” And if you look at that Hebrews verse, it says “About the Son it says….” and quotes verses 6 and 7 of Psalm 45. Verse 8 is then a continuation of that quote about the “oil of joy”. It is clear that this psalm is a picture of Jesus and His bride, the church.
There will always be disagreement about interpreting the Bible. But it is so important that we do read it and grow in our knowledge of God. And this candle, inspired by Scripture, is meant to help us in getting to know God better. It is a visual and sensual reminder of Jesus’ presence in our lives. And it is working, evidenced by the many wonderful testimonials we have received. Many people are lighting it as they read the Bible and pray, giving them a whole new way of experiencing our Lord.
